How Our NZ Clinics Are Keeping You Safe

by | 14 May 2020

Today marked the first day of Alert Level 2 and our dermaviduals clinics in New Zealand re-opening to serve you and your skin (hooray!).

If you’re feeling nervous or hesitant about heading into clinic, we totally understand that – there’s so much unknown at the moment. To help you make an informed decision about your next treatment, we thought we’d let you know what our clinics are doing to keep you and themselves safe, in addition to abiding by Government directives and following industry guidelines.

Before you arrive at your clinic, the clinic will be fully sanitised and some, like Skin Artistry, have been professionally sanitised with long-lasting effectiveness.

Caryn from Pamper Pod explains, “there is additional time being allocated between appointments to allow sufficient time for new sanitising protocols to be carried out without clients being inconvenienced. The treatment room is still set up looking inviting – warmed and contoured with sheets and towels. These will be laundered, as usual, after each client, but the added measure of bagging all linens and towels after each client before sanitising the ‘high-touch’ areas are in place. Following standard procedure, each load of washing will be done in a hot wash and as an extra measure, dried in the dryer.” Other clinics, such as Skin Perfection will also utilise disposable biodegradable towels.

Upon arriving at your appointment you might be required to wait in your car, so only one client will be in the waiting room at a time. Some clinics, including The Beauty Lounge ask that you “please arrive on time, but not early as we cannot have anyone waiting in reception at this time.” Your therapist will be wearing personal protective equipment, just like Nina from Skin Image (left), Priya from Samsara Medispa (middle) and Sue from Renew Skin & Body (right) are rocking below! Kirstie from The Beauty Lounge goes on to say “I will be wearing appropriate PPE and you are more than welcome to bring your own and do the same.”

As you enter all clinics, you’ll be asked to sanitise your hands at a sanitising station, just like this one pictured at Skin Perfection.

You may also be asked to fill out a Contact Tracing Register. Shaheen from Skin Artistry says, “clients are requested to complete the contact tracing register once they arrive. This will include your name, contact number and people you have been in contact with.”

Priya from Samsara Medispa has said that her waiting room will look a little different for the time being. “There will be no magazines or cushions in the reception area” so as to lower the number of touchpoints and make sanitation easier.

If your treatment involves a modality such as LED or EXCEED microneedling, extra precautions are being taken with these technologies too including disposable covers and full sanitations between clients.

While there are a lot of changes in clinic, this won’t impact your treatment experience. Caryn says, “Yes, it will look a bit odd at first with me being masked up and there being no fluffy blankets/throws on the facial bed, but I am going to do my best to ensure that once my client is tucked in bed they can relax knowing that they are in safe hands and I’m doing everything I need to do to keep us both safe without it impacting on their experience.”

Our dermaviduals therapists are excited to see you! Priya says, “I am so looking forward to treating you soon!” While Shaheen is so thankful for your continued support, “lastly I’m so grateful to all my amazing clients who have been so supportive during this time and have been waiting so patiently.”

To get a clear idea of what you can expect from your favourite dermaviduals clinic, give them a call or check out their website. Clinics such as Chillout Spa have their Health & Safety Procedures for Level 2 outlined online.

If you’re still not comfortable or can’t head out to your local dermaviduals clinic, get in touch with your skin treatment therapist and book in a virtual appointment. Karen from Skin Perfection says, “facial packages are still available when you’re not feeling up to coming into the clinic for treatments or if your immunity is compromised. A free virtual consultation will help to determine what is suitable for your skin”.

Whether you decide to come into clinic or stay home, our dermaviduals clinics are still here for you and your skin.
