Care sits at the centre of everything we do, both in clinic and beyond. The way we care for skin is never just surface level. It’s shaped by what we’ve been shown, who we’ve been held by, and the relationships that stay with us.
This Mother’s Day, we invited members of the derma aesthetics team to share a personal reflection on care, through the people, relationships, and moments that have shaped them. What emerged is a collection of stories that speak to care in its many forms, given, received, and carried forward over time.

Motherhood has taught me that care is a conscious choice, shown in how we speak, connect, nourish, and show up each day. My boys have reshaped how I live, reminding me to stay present, care for myself more deeply, and find meaning in small moments. They’ve expanded my capacity for love and shown me a quieter, stronger version of myself. Care, to me, is how we choose to show up, again and again.

Care, for me as a mum, is in the time we mindfully carve out together. Nature, especially the mountains, holds a special place for us and connects me to my parents who never met my boys. My children remind me that letting them grow doesn’t always require intervention. Staying steady has shaped both them and me. Today, it feels like something beautiful is evolving, less about holding on, more about staying connected.

Care, to me as a mother, is a gentle and intuitive presence, creating safety, support, and space to grow in our own time. It has taught me that caring for my own wellbeing is part of how I care for my daughter. This is reflected in my approach to skin health — as a steady practice of nourishment, patience, and respect.

Being a mother has taught me that true care starts from the inside out. Loving someone so deeply has made me feel more anchored in myself. It has shown me what it really means to look after both someone else and myself. That has been one of the most unexpected gifts of motherhood.

Care has always lived in the quiet, everyday moments — shared meals, time together, and simply being present. My mum and grandmother shaped how I understand care, teaching me to stay connected to family while also caring for myself. This Mother’s Day, I feel grateful my children are growing up with those same values.

I never fully understood the depth of care it takes to put someone else first until motherhood showed me. Care is a quiet, steady love that shows up every day. My daughter has shaped how I give it and what it means in my life today.

Family is everything to me. Being a mum and a granny are my greatest joys. My granddaughter Isla reminds me that the love you give always comes back — usually as the best, tightest hugs.

“No one will ever love you the way your mum does — steady, patient, and always there.”
We’ve grown together through everything, and I’ve never had to walk it alone. I’ll always be grateful for her, for the way she’s always there to take my calls, have a laugh, and just be that constant in my life, even when I’m just being annoying.

Care, for me, is instinctive and unwavering. it’s showing up in ways I never fully understood until now. It’s patience I didn’t know I had, and a kind of strength that is both soft and constant. Motherhood has taught me that caring for others also means caring for yourself, and finding balance in both.

There is no single way to define motherhood. It lives in the people who raise us, the ones who stand beside us, and the ways we learn to care for others and ourselves. These reflections remind us that care is not fixed, it evolves, deepens, and is carried forward over time. At dermaviduals, this understanding continues into every skin journey, considered, individual, and shaped over time.
All the ways we mother, this Mother’s Day.
