There are just a few more weeks before Australians will be bearing all (or nearly all) in itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny bikinis and Speedos. That means there are just a few more weeks to get rid of the last of the extra Winter kilos, to banish excess water weight and cellulite, and to give the skin a healthy beach-ready glow.
If you’d like to tone up and slim down, take a tip from the women at dermaviduals! Three members of our team are juicing their way to a more beautiful summer and
- A flatter stomach
- No more bloat
- Clear skin
- A naturally detoxed system
Here’s how they do it…
The Theory behind a Juice Cleanse
“The mechanics of a juice cleanse are simple,” says Reika, our Managing Director, who along with Brittany (International Sales Manager) and Annemarie (PR Executive and PA) are juicing up a storm. “We’re careful not to overstep the mark and maintain a healthy, balanced diet.”
A juice cleanse frees your body from the burden of digesting solid food, especially hard-to-metabolise items such as meat and dairy. Without all that mess in your digestive tract, your body can more efficiently and effectively release other toxins that are poisoning your system and affecting your health and well-being.
Every Little Bit of (Juice) Helps
Juicing doesn’t have to be an all or nothing affair. Even replacing one meal a day with a healthy juice will help you slim down. “I love starting my day with a green juice,” says Annemarie. “It’s a way to be sure that I get all my healthy fruits and veggies…and the lasting energy boost it gives me helps me power through my day.”
Compare that to the spike and crash of a typical breakfast of toast and coffee!
Everyday Wake-up Green Juice – No Juicer Required
What can you do if you don’t want to invest in an expensive juicer? You can purchase pre-made juice cleanse kits, but they can be costly. “I just use a blender,” says Brittany. “I like pulp, so I don’t mind a thicker drink.” If you prefer less pulp, you can press the blended fruits and veggies through a sieve using a spatula to squeeze out as much juicy goodness as possible.
Here’s Brittany’s easy recipe for Everyday Wake Up Green Juice:
- 1-1/2 cups water
- 2 cups kale
- 2 green apples (peeled and cored)
- ½ cup parsley leaves
- 1 medium cucumber, peeled, quartered, and seeded
- 2 celery stalks, roughly chopped
- 1 two-centimetre piece of ginger, peeled
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.
Put everything in the blender and whirl away on the liquefy setting. “Be sure you put the water in first,” says Brittany. “It will make the blending go more smoothly.”
Juice Tip from Dr. Oz
On his website, health guru Dr. Oz reminds readers to “Make sure you eat fibre, to keep your digestive system working smoothly. You can add dissolvable fibre powder to your juices or supplement with a suitable number of fibre-rich solid foods (like prunes or pears) to compensate.”
Bottoms up! (That refers to your juice glass, not your bikini bottom)
