Our Christmas Charities

by | 6 December 2019

At Derma Aesthetics, we believe that Christmas is the time of giving and this year that sentiment seems to be ringing exceptionally true, as we see so many around us needing a helping hand.

In lieu of physical Christmas cards and presents for our amazing partner clinics, we have made donations to the following charities on their behalf. Keep reading to learn about our chosen charities that are doing incredible things to make our world a better place!

Pretty Foundation

This amazing foundation’s vision is to empower girls with the perspective, skills and support to develop and nurture a positive body image for themselves and others. They say “Pretty is often used in a superficial context with regards to female appearance. We want to go beyond the superficial and reclaim the power of pretty by using it to describe the true value of women and girls. She’s pretty inspirational. She’s pretty brave. She’s pretty talented.” You can learn more about their movement and supporting it here.

This organisation is working hard to see their vision of seeing individuals and communities around the world transformed by hope, opportunity and dignity. In particular, donations and gifts purchased focus to:

  • Protect the vulnerable from modern slavery, trafficking and exploitation.
  • Sponsor children in need to help them thrive in reaching their full potential and to experience a hope more powerful than poverty.
  • Restore hope and peace through disaster recovery and peace building when disaster and conflict strike.
  • Empower via farming and enterprise to help people to help themselves.
  • Nourish communities with water, health and education AKA life’s essentials.

Koala Hospital

The Koala Hospital does incredible work to rescue and treat sick and injured koalas and release back to their home range if possible, which is critical amidst the devastating bushfires parts of Australia is currently facing. They also contribute to the preservation and expansion of habitat, collection of information for research relating to habitat, disease, nutrition and habits of wild koalas and to provide educational material, to increase public awareness of all aspects of the koala. You can also visit the Koala Hospital in Port Macquarie, NSW to see these adorable animals and learn more about them. Visit their website to start planning your trip or donate to their cause.

The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS)

The NSW RFS is the lead combat agency for bushfires in NSW. For over 100 years they have been a significant part of the history and landscape of NSW. Working closely with other agencies they respond to a range of emergencies including structure fires, motor vehicle accidents and storms that occur within rural fire districts. The NSW RFS is widely acknowledged as the largest volunteer fire service in the world. They are currently battling numerous fires burning out of control and we couldn’t be more grateful. You can support the NSW RFS here.

Lion’s Club Drought Disaster Fund

This fund provides support to drought stricken farming families facing hardships. In particular, our donation will support a Christmas community event day that will provide farming families with 1,000 hay bales, dog food, drinking water, personal care items, clothing, fresh produce, fuel vouchers, supermarket vouchers, prepaid visa cards and Christmas presents for children from Santa. This day and their subsequent community events & support work will not only provide some financial relief but also provide extremely important emotional and mental assistance. Learn more about their important work here.

Have a beautiful festive season!
